The Story of Jen McHugh – Pre-treatment
Diagnosed with Acute Promyelocytic Leukaemia in March 2009, Jen who is now in remission takes us through the days running up to her diagnosis. The only thing Jen was ever ill with before her diagnosis was a cold, so when bruises started to appear self-proclaimed clumsy, Jen just put it down to her clumsiness. As more bruises appeared, feeling tired and a loss of appetite came, friends of Jen made her visit her local walk in centre who referred her to GP and a routine blood test was carried out. The results wasn’t good and Jen had to spend her first night ever in a hospital, but all she seemed to worry about was whether to take her pj’s and a toothbrush!

Jen, I think you’re very brave; even though you cried/sobbed, but hey! who wouldn’t. I thank God that he brought you through it all to now being in remission and I continue to pray that you will remain so. Thanks for that film I’m sure it will bring lots of comfort to others who are going through what you have been through and will encourage them to take that same positive attitude that you took; ‘one day at a time, just get through it’. Also well done you for all the fund raising you have been doing on behalf of other Lukemia patients and for sharing your experience with us all. God Bless.
