Choices – Mohammad
Back in 2008 Mohammad was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, Mohammad was initially put on an adult ward but then was given the choice to either receive treatment there or to travel a bit further from home to receive treatment at a young persons unit. For Mohammad the choice was easy as the YPU had all the gadgets and home comforts he needed.

Diagnosed at the age of 15, being treated on a childrens ward, made me feel really bored most of the time, just like you were, on an adult ward, I was also unaware of how important it actually was to hav the freedom to talk to other teenagers both on and off that ward. I guess I also feel like I’ve been left to feel uncomfortable with the guilt of being too shy or perhaps wasn’t allowed to connect with other patients who may have wanted the same things; empathize with eachother and share that withstanding experience. I think surely someone could help bring their confidence up throughout their droning stay as inpatient. Do you agree?
