Part 5 of Joe’s inspiring video series, filmed alongside trusted professional Professor David Walker, sees Joe continue to discuss his decision not to receive further treatment for his cancer and openly and honestly talk about his whole experience, raising further discussion points along the way. Joe explains how his severe lack of energy is limiting what he can do and offers his thoughts on the best options for care and pain control, highly praising the Sheffield TCT unit where he has formed many friendships and experienced a tremendous amount of support and care. Providing his own personal insight into Joe’s story, Professor Walker explains how keeping close control of the situation, just like Joe, has meant that he has been able to live life to the full and make the choices that, ultimately, are best for his needs.

  • I never met Joe – but was greatly moved by his films. What a lovely, brave, thoughtful, intelligent young man he was. My thoughts are with his family and friends.

  • Wow.I am a friend of Joes dad,Stuart, and it was my great honour and priviledge to meet Joe just once. Every young person who is diagnosed with cancer should sit and watch his interviews as a way to help them cope with the fight ahead of them. Joe was and shall continue to be an inspiration to many people and will be missed by all who knew and loved him. I will do whatever I can from now on to support teenage cancer research in honour of Joes name.

  • Joe what a fantastic person you were, these series of films are fantastic, i never told you but you are my inspiration, a true gentleman to the end. All your friends and family were fantastic at the funeral and did you proud, especially ami and your mum. RIP m8

  • An honest, open, courageous and powerful series of films which could prove to be a valuable learning tool for professional and service providers. Death is never an easy topic to talk about, but Joe’s philosophy meant that he was able to live his life on his terms and I pray that his death was on his terms too.
